WHY PRESENCE?
The church is a dwelling place for the Living God. We're attentive to God's movement and willing to go wherever He leads us. We embrace the power and the gifts of the Spirit for today in the building up of the church.
In a culture of wandering, we'll be a people of the way.
We joyfully and boldly hold a commitment to the teachings of Jesus and to orthodoxy with a grace-filled posture. We believe the Bible is the word of God and is authoritative and true.
In a culture of compromise, we'll be a people of conviction.
We want to be holy like our Creator. We are called out of the way of the world to be intentionally counter-formed into the way of Jesus. We invite God's wholeness into every area of our lives. We're committed to the process of being formed into the image of Christ for the sake of others.
In a culture of distraction, we’ll be a people of disciple making.
We're called to demonstrate God's love to everyone. We are compassionate to those Jesus paid special attention to: the poor, marginalized, and lost. Everything—from the hours in our days to the money in our accounts—is a gift entrusted to us to steward for the wellbeing of others. We're blessed to be a blessing.
In a culture of self-interest, we’ll be a people of self-giving.
We find deep refreshment and love through one another's presence and provide care for those who need it. Our hospitality knows no barriers and it extends to everyone regardless of race, class, sex, tradition, and politics. We partner with other churches, humbly recognizing that God's Kingdom is bigger than ourselves.
In a culture of isolation, we'll be a people of invitation
We boldly engage with cultural narratives, idols, strongholds, and disordered desires with intentionality. We're aware of our culture and do justice in the issues facing our communities. We witness to the good news of Christ everywhere we go.
In a culture of chaos, we'll be a people of compassion.
We seek a radical move of God in our midst by cultivating spiritual hunger. We are prayerfully watching and ready to see the Kingdom of heaven and revival here in our time.
In a culture of the mundane, we expect miracles.
There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and co-eternal.
(Genesis 1:26; Isaiah 9:6; Matt. 3:16-17 & 28:19; Luke 1:35; Hebrews 3:7-11; 1 John 5:7)
Jesus Christ is God the Son, the second person of the Trinity. On earth, Jesus was 100% God and 100% man. He is the only man to have ever lived a sinless life. Born of a virgin, he lived a holy life, performing miracles and dying on the cross for mankind, thus atoning for our sins through the shedding of his blood. He rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return again in power and glory.
(Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1, 14; John 20:28; Philippians 2:5-6; 1 Timothy 2:5; 1 Timothy 3:16)
Christians are people who have surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ and invited the Holy Spirit to come and dwell within them. They relinquish the authority of their lives over to him, making Jesus the Lord of their life as well as Savior. They put their trust in what Jesus accomplished for them when he died, was buried, and rose again from the dead. The Holy Spirit gives us power and authority to be Jesus’ witnesses wherever we go.
(John 1:12, 14:17, 14:23, & 15:4; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:11; Revelation 3:20)
We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ through his death, burial, and resurrection. Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or of any human efforts.
(Romans 10:9-10; Galatians 2:16 & 3:8; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; Hebrews 9:22)
The Church is the body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of Jesus' Great Commission. Every person, through the power of the Holy Spirit, is an integral part of the Church as a member with the body of believers. There is a spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
(John 17:11, 20-23; Ephesians 1:22 & 2:19-22; Hebrews 12:23)
